DSW Shell Chair FRP Walnut [Matte Lime]
Reproduced furniture focused on quality and price by E-comfort.
The Shell Chair is one of the works submitted to the "Low-Cost Furniture Design Competition," co-hosted by a furniture non-profit organization as part of MoMA's efforts to differentiate itself from other museums by collecting modern design products in 1948. It impressively secured second place. At that time, Charles Eames was striving to realize a new era of design that could be mass-produced using molded plywood, but the production using molded plywood proved to be extremely difficult. Eames did not give up on commercialization and successfully brought the chair to market using FRP, a new material at the time. The chair, produced by layering fiberglass wool with adhesive using a mold and finally shaping the exterior, was introduced to the world as an innovative mass-produced item. The E-comfort Shell Chair is available in six colors for the seat: black, white, gray, red, pale blue, and pale green, with options for the legs being wood legs or rod base. This is a side shell chair that uses wood legs. *The product is a reproduction imported and sold by E-comfort.
